We went to Jani on Saturday with friends after going plant shopping. I really like Jani. It's my favorite local Chinese restaurant to eat at (love the old school charm) and we've gotten take-out from there many times. We sat at one of the booths. Big Guy Comfort Factor of 9. My wife said she felt a little squished (my thighs have already apologized). The service was very good. I think I drained my water glass 3 or 4 times and it was quickly refilled every time. The food is usually very good. I like the Hot & Sour Soup, the Pork Buns, the Pork Dumplings, the General's Chicken, the lunch specials. We've ordered the Peking Duck on several occasions and it's always very very good. We thought the food was a bit disappointing this time. 3 of us ordered off the Japanese lunch specials menu. It's the first time I've ordered Japanese food there. I thought the Chicken Teriyaki was just okay. A little too sweet and sugary. My friend didn't like her Teriyaki either. The salad was nice and the Hot & Sour Soup was okay. My wife had Chicken and Mixed Vegetables. It was a nice portion. I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day - I thought it was very good. We will continue to go to Jani - for the Peking Duck when we eat in - and for their great take-out lunch specials.

I find it hard to believe Yelp only has this restaurant at a 3-star rating! Come on people, start putting in some good reviews. We go here about once a month and they are the best Chinese restaurant around these parts. I like a nearby competitor but Jani is better. I love getting Chinese and Japanese together. I love their Shumai dumplings and the Shrimp Wonton soup.

Could use a facelift. Delicious sushi, lovely staff. Very good sushi and delightful staff

Food and service is good . Old school Chinese place . Soup dumplings are great . Two items i didn't like were chicken low mein and the fried rice It was fresh but was jot seasoned. Besides that all other food was good

I think this place is underrated. The food was delicious. We ordered wonton soups, chicken cashew and another chicken with peppers dish. I just think they need more waiters/waitresses to serve. It's very roomy here and I felt like I could stretch my legs.

We came here for dinner with friends. Jani is a chain of Chinese Japanese restaurants on Long Island. There is lots of free parking in front and clean restrooms. Loved the decor between the large terra-cotta soldiers and the walls filled with interesting ornate tea pots, we were all impressed. We weren't rushed. We were able to sit and have a nice conversation for a couple of hours. We shared shrimp & garlic, beef & broccoli, General Tao's chicken, pork fried rice and egg rolls. Everything was delicious & service was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable and portion generous.

My husband is addicted to this restaurant. They have the best pork fried dumplings on the planet, quote me! I've tried so many different items on their menu and love all of them. The chicken broccoli, the wonton soup, the fried rice, the list goes on and on! This is a unique menu as they have both Chinese and Japanese food. We eat here weekly and cannot help ourselves, the best Chinese spot on Long Island!
